Small mistake

The title of this article does not reflect the severity of the mistake but rather the size of the new concept vehicle that Aston Martin will be releasing in the new year. This post is not a joke and the photos are not digitally rendered. As ridiculous as the car looks it is really planned to make the Aston Martin line up in the near future. Aston says the car is designed to help Aston Martin maintain European Union's fleet average emissions standards.
As everyone is well aware Aston Martin has a reputation for building pavement eating 12 cylinder bullet machines that hit speeds hovering around 200 mph. You would think that Aston enjoys that reputation and would fear losing it by releasing this sad imitation of a car. The new Cygnet Concept has a meek straight four which only produces 98 Brake horse power. You could probably achieve greater speeds in a '68 Fiat 850 Idromatic. In no way does this microcar seem to fit into the Aston Martin Family.
Aston claims that this car is an attempt to make a luxurious microcar. I do not see anything luxurious about driving around in a lunch box even if it does have an aston martin badge duck-taped to the front. Overall the car looks bloated and lacks shape. Adding the flare normally found on other models has made it busy looking. the interior i must say is very nice. Especially the two tone leather and the built in ipod docking station.
But I realize that everyone is now thinking to themselves that at least it is an affordable Aston Martin that the general public can afford, but before you go run out and buy yourself one I think you should know the price tag does not reflect the miniature stature of the car. At a price of $40,000 dollars would rather spend my money on the new BMW M1.
There is still a lot of information to still uncover about this car but i feel like the situation is parallel with Michael Jordan playing for the White Sox. I am a big fan of Aston Martin and I hope it will work out for them but i think it would have been a more clever idea to just buy a new company for micro cars rather than sticking an Aston Martin badge on a Smart Fortwo (not exactly) and slapping a $40,000 dollar price tag one it.So to wrap it up it may be a great microcar but a terrible Aston Martin.

Aston Has created these interesting posters for the car because they know that if you buy this car that is exactly what your are.... A woman.

  1. I love the caption underneath the pictures big fella. Also if I was going to spend 40,000 dollars on a car I would never buy one of these. I have a feeling that most people would agree with that statement. I bet I could buy two used corvettes with like 20,000 miles on them for that price. Plus you know if you buy any car new you lose a ton of value as soon as you turn the key and leave the lot. Good piece Dahle.
